Users Guide

In order to start using the facilities you must first become a member and have an induction. However experienced you are you must attend an induction session to familiarise yourself with the equipment and materials we use, to learn about access arrangements and to ensure safe working practice.The induction will take about 2 hours. 

Inductions costs £15 

As a member you will access to

  • two paper screen beds (table 1 printable dimensions 125x85cm / table 2 printable dimentions115x80cm)
  • One textile printing table (printable dimensions: 135 x265cm)
  • 1 heat press (printable dimensions: 45x38cm)
  • An in house exposure unit, maximum screen size 120x90cm
  • 1 wash down booth
  • Screens in a range of mesh counts and sizes available for hire
  • corresponding squeegees in a range of sizes

A yearly membership is payable at the time of your induction and is renewable at a fixed date every year.

Membership costs £15 for a year and covers use of basic studio sundries such as newsprint and parcel tape.


Basic materials are available to buy through the print rooms, please check with us that we have everything you need in advance. We currently stock a range of inks, binders and papers at competitive prices. Payment must be made at the time of purchase. Arrangements can be made for more specialist items through our suppliers if given sufficient notice. You can also use your own materials but please discuss this with the technician (especially if you would like to use your own binders as rules apply)

Booking system:

Once you have had an induction you will be able to book sessions and work independently. 

Bookings can be made up to four weeks in advance via email, Please only book a slot if you are definitely going to use it. Members who block book sessions and fail to turn up will face loosing their deposit as it is unfair on other studio users.

Sessions can currently be booked on Wednesday- Friday only in three slots:
10 am to 1 pm / 2 pm to 5 pm / 6 pm to 9 pm
(Our opening times are subject to change depending on our volunteers, please keep an eye on the blog for updates) 

Each session will cost £10 per three hour slot, tuition is extra.

Screen Hire:

Screens for textiles and paper printing are available to hire from us for a weekly rate of £5 per screen regardless of size or mesh count. 43/90/120 mesh counts available. 
Our screen sizes range from 20 X 24 inches to 90 X 115 inches (the biggest we can fit in our exposure unit!)

Screen Coating:

Screens will be coated once weekly by our technicians on Fridays. Please make sure you have booked at least 1 week in advance of the coating date to insure your hired screens will be coated up in time. Charges will vary depending on the size of the screen/s. If you would like to use your own screens please discuss this with the technician in advance (and make sure your screen/s are easy to identify)

Extra Large (A1+) - £15

How to find us:

Stew Print Rooms are situated in Stew Gallery and Artist Studios, 40 Fishergate, Norwich, NR3 1SE.
The building is less than a ten-minute walk from the city centre, five minutes from Anglia Square and about twenty minutes from Norwich Train Station. Stew does not have its own car park but there are all day car parks (as marked on the map) both off of Colgate and Fishergate and also pay and display parking along the surrounding roads. We do not have bike parking facilities as yet but if you ask us nicely we might let you put your bikes round the back if you can't find anywhere near by.
